Das Leben ist eine Nebelwand voller Rasierklingen. With the rise of Blu-Ray, DTS stopped restricting itself to only 3 bitrates and only 2 sampling frequencies i. Unless you have a really good 5. I think, therefore i am a hamster. If I point MediaInfo at the files it becomes fairly obvious.
Other than that, human ears will adapt to anything. People complain about the audio mixing in the latest series' of the new Doctor Who, I'd watched every single episode and had never noticed. I was watching a few episodes with the full 5.
It's like River Song and Lady Vastra and her menagerie, I notice they're annoying too but I forget very quickly and get on with watching the episode.
I think some people just enjoy being judgemental it must make them feel superior and can't let things go. Last edited by ndjamena; 5th Oct at Adding more info, just for making things clearer I think testing 5. Don't know if it sounds better or worse, but it's sure a lot smaller in size. If you have a good rig listen to Saving Private Ryan 5. Dts absolutely blows 5. I think you will find it's because most people find DTS sounds "punchier".
Dolby Digital 5. Lazy buggers rule, Zzzz The 'volume' of a track may have more to do with dynamic range than anything Let me explain DVD's are closer to a true movie experience in that the difference between the volume of a conversation and an explosion is closer to reality DTS has an excellent dynamic range and usually will require a little more boost If this bothers you, many DVD players have the ability to shrink the dynamic range so you can both hear dialogue and explosions without annoying your neighbors.
All the digital recievers that I've seen also have the ability to compress the dynamic range as well. Usually three settings. Max usually being the original source meant for the theaters. Normal or midrange is supposidly compressed a bit more to suite home theater use. I personally do not have a DTS system. I bought it quite a few years ago.
Just got new surround sound speakers the other day. Was trying to talk my wife into letting upgrade my reciever to a DTS system but no go. Oh well DD 5. I love to crank it but only when the wife is not home, she hates it loud. So I guess this big speal is telling you that I just keep the 5. But I will actually keep the DTS on a movie sometimes if there's enough room where I don't have to compress the movie. Who know's I may get a new reciever some day. Or atleast a standalone DTS decoder which my reciever does have hookups for.
If i'm making a back up copy I'll drop DTS some time's to give more room for the video. When DTS first came out one fo my friend was a bif fan of it. The core stream, in turn, can be later decoded with the aid of any DTS decoder, regardless of whether it understands the new variant or not. In the case that a decoder does understand it, it can modify it with respect to the instructions that are contained in the extension stream.
This is what allows backward compatibility. The file format was created by Dolby Labs with the intention of using it in Dolby Digital Audio on DVDs, the much so popular Blu-ray as well as other digital video formats. What makes AC3 sought after is the fact it increases fidelity compared to its previous format of surround sound standard, the Pro-Logic. It makes for a total bitrate of kbps. If you need to reproduce the entire surround sound signal on an AC3 file, then you require a supported playback device such as a DVD player which is connected to a Dolby Digital supporting home-theatre amplifier.
The file format is also common in computer audio as it can be easily interpreted by sound cards. Moreover, the audio files in most cell phones such as notification tones etc. Both DTS and AC3 are two different technologies serving the same purpose but there are differences between both of them.
DTS stands for Digital theatre system is a company that makes multichannel audio technologies for films and videos, by enhancing the sound quality of it. DTS company is based in Calabasas, California and was introduced in as a higher quality competitor to Dolby Laboratories and undoubtedly accomplished the goal of being better in the market. DTS is also known as their technology. It is the technology which makes audios more loud and clear, making films appropriate for the theatre audience for the people who have home theatre.
DTS is used to give that cinematic feel at home as well. And make the experience of the audience more memorable. There are different versions better than others within the technology. And different versions are used for different purposes. For example for the real theatre there is a different version that will be used and for home purposes a different version is used.
DTS has a working system in which six different audio channels are encoded on to one or two CDs. DTS uses higher bits which makes the sound quality more appreciable, for the home theatre version the most appropriate version is 5.
