Just in case you were under the impression that the Gallery is where all Gagnaire poured all his ambition, allow us to correct you. The food is every bit as ambitious as Momo had hoped for his new venture and — according to the three Michelin Stars the restaurant has since received — every bit as delicious too.
The baroque veiling is painted in lush pinks and purples. The back wall in one of the rooms there are three in all is mirrored by tinted panels, to create perfect visual metaphor for what this place is: a uniquely interesting reflection of sumptuous luxury. Other courses include roast Anjou pigeon and foie gras with diced lobster , Venere rice with gorgonzola ice cream, and white peach raviolo served with green curry. Ryan Robert. They they took that paper, and carefully mapped it out onto the walls of the room, hand-cutting and sticking it all up seamlessly, so a to make it seem like you are in the postcard itself.
But The East Bar is as close as Sketch will come to any sense of normalcy. Of course — that said — it is set inside a giant, spaceship like globe, completely white on the outside, with a totally circular sunken bar in the centre of the room on the inside.
Nothing that stands out to me. The Udon noodles were amazing. As was the Pumpkin Veloute. Very disappointed in Sketch, used to come here all the time going back 6 -7 years ago and I used to think the food and ambiance were exceptional.
The ambiance is still absolutely sublime but the food is just trying too hard to be something but it misses due to the ingredients! Presentation is beautiful but taste has a long way to go before I will return. I have to say the service was also impeccable, pity it has so much to offer and yet the main ingredient is missing. Amazing place and atmosphere, love the cocktail served in the David shringley teapot was so great! And Sarah who was serving us cocktails was absolutely amazing she knew everything about everything and was so so lovely!
Definitely will be back a big thank you! The food and decor are lovely but the service needs improvement.
This is a very expensive restaurant and I shouldn't have to ask times for drinks that fail to be served though we almost finished our meal! My son is a picky eater and I asked if instead of the Mac and cheese on the children's menu I could just have plain pasta and that I am happy to pay as if I ordered the Mac and cheese. I got a flat out "no! I ordered the Mac and cheese and my son didn't touch it. They did refund the dish without me asking but my son was left hungry.
Any other fine restaurant I've been to was happy to simplify an existing dish. The decor is out of this world. The bathrooms, the sketches, the colour, it's all amazing! The food is outstanding and a special word for the service which is absolutely fantastic. The waiters have a beautiful outfit are constantly trying to help and super friendly.
Of course this all comes with a rather high price tag But it's worth it. This place has a beautiful pink and white interior with soft luxurious lighting - its very romantic. Even though sadly I wasn't there on a date it felt like a great place for one.
Regardless its a great place for dinner with friends. I found the artwork hilarious, most of it was comic but had a deeper meaning which was an interesting atmosphere to eat in.
I was totally in love with the pink velvet seats and the service. Every time my friend went to sit down, they tucked him in! Now about the food, the ravioli was magnificent and so were potato dauphinoise!
I had macaroons for dessert which melted in the mouth. Even though the food is quite dear, it is definitely worth it. The toilets were creepy but I believe most people think they're amazing. Overall, one of the best dinners and night outs I've had. Amazing atmosphere, service and great food. A very sophisticated evening but also a casual affair. Brilliant service, all the waitresses and waiters were so attentive, the cocktails were fab, the food was so well presented and the ambiance was spot on.
Would definitely recommend to friends and family, great staff and what a venue! Will definitely be coming back! We lived it check out the unique restroom. What can I say about this restaurant! I had heard so many good things about it and we had to experience it for ourselves.
Me and my husband went here for our 2 year wedding anniversary and had a fantastic night! LOVE the restaurant, the food was lovely, ambience is arty, cool and quirky and the toilets are like nothing you have seen before! You have to go to this restaurant at least once in your life it's so cool and the food is delicious! Check out the bars after as well! Very interesting bathrooms! Tasty and inventive food choices. Different and interesting rooms bar, restaurant, club I think it was a club.
One small semi-negative thing to note - the main restaurant lacks atmosphere until it gets busy. It's because of the high ceilings. When it gets busy and they dim the lights slightly the atmosphere cranks up too. Not a big problem but I'd recommend booking your table after 8pm for best atmosphere.
Once again, the service and food were great and we had a superb evening. The decor was eccentric and amazing. Don't forget to check out all the rooms of the restarant especially the washrooms upstairs Amazing for a chilled out dinner with friends. I booked a table for 6. Waited until 6. Live string quartets and DJs have been known to drop by and serenade your supping. For a more casual and affordable! Into the evening, while the other rooms dish out daring dinners, the Parlour turns down the lights and focuses on up cocktails and live music, running until 2am.
For our money, the prettiest room at sketch is The Glade. Redesigned in , the room was re-imagined as a mythical forest, complete with a seriously fluffy carpet designed to look like a forest floor.
The designers took inspiration from early twentieth century wallpaper when redecorating the walls, resulting in those gorgeous paper trees.
Trees adorn the walls, and the whole effect is topped off by touches of gold, velvet seating, and a tinted glass ceiling. See more romantic restaurants in London. To find that, head to the toilets.
